Humanitarian Relief for the Bahamas

Hurricane Dorian devastated the Islands of the Bahamas, the eye struck the Abacos as a Category 5 Hurricane and stalled in the islands for a few days. It is estimated that at least 65 people died and 282 were missing in the country. The damage caused by the storm was over $7 Billion USD.

When hard times come there is nothing more satisfying than seeing the general aviation coming together and doing anything they can to help out.

We were so lucky to be part of the some relief flights to the Bahamas as well as helping collecting supplies to ship via vessels.

With the help of REMAX Bahamas and the whole REMAX Team we where able to raise a total of $14,805 with REMAX Cayman Islands team contributing the highest amount of $8,050. Here is a link to the GoFundMe.

It first started with a friend who loaned me a Cessna 402B and all I had to do what to fill it with gas, but as we build momentum we were able to increase our load capacity to that of a Convair 240 which we chartered our of Opa Locka Airport (KOPF).

We flew a total of 15,300 lb of cargo, all going to different locations. Covering Grand Bahamas and The Abacos with landings in Freeport, Marsh Harbor, and Treasure Cay.

Below are some photos of the experience. Always remember that general aviation can play a huge role in our communities!
